Poor start to second half hurts Marian

(Fond du Lac, WI) - Alverno College defeated Marian University 66-42 on Saturday afternoon thanks to a 14-0 run to open the second half. The Inferno led only 27-22 at the break, but went on the big run over the first 5:08 of the second half to take control of the game.

Marian played well in the first half, but shot only 26% from the floor. Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI) kept Marian close as she hit three 3-pointers in the half for nine points.

After the run to open the second half, Marian was unable to get any closer than fourteen points. The Inferno's largest lead of the half was twenty-eight points.

Marian finished the game shooting 17-for-59 (29%), while Alverno shot 28-for-67 (42%). The Inferno held a 46-38 advantage on the boards.

Emily Reiter (Hilbert, WI) led the Sabres in scoring with 10 points. Haen finished with 9 points.

Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, to go along with her 7 points.
