Marian falls short in NAC Crossover game

(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University finished their season with a 78-73 defeat to Aurora University on Saturday. The Sabres finished the season 5-19, while the Spartans finished 9-16.
The Spartans out-rebounded Marian 49-34, including 20 offensive rebounds. Aurora turned those offensive rebounds into 23 points. The Spartans also outscored the Sabres 48-30 in the paint.
Marian got two outstanding offensive performances from Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) and Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI). Becker finished with a game-high 27 points. She also pulled down 8 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Haen finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
The Sabres led 28-27 late in the first half, but trailed 33-29 going into the break.
In the second, Marian kept it close, but the Spartans led the whole way.
Becky Gifford led a balanced scoring attack for the Spartans with 19 points.
