(Appleton, WI) - The Sabres lost game one of their non-conference doubleheader on Thursday evening to Lawrence University, but rebounded to win game two. The Vikings won game one 11-10, but Marian won game two, 7-1.

Marian (16-13) fell behind 3-0 in game one in the first inning, but scored seven runs in the top of the second to grab the lead. Ashley Engler (Waterford, WI) hit a two-run home run in the frame. That lead didn't last long though, as the Vikings scored four times in the bottom of the second.

Marian then scored twice in the top of the fourth to take a 9-7 lead, but the Vikings answered with three in their half. In the fifth, Marian scored again, but the Vikings answered with what became the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Vikings out-hit Marian 16-12 in the contest and won despite committing six errors.

Emily Wiesman (Sheboygan, WI), Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI), and Engler all had two hits for Marian.

In game two, Marian broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth and then added three insurance runs in the seventh.

Maria Archie (Madison, WI) and Emilie Jansen (Kaukauna, WI) both hit home runs for Marian in the contest. Jansen finished with three hits and three RBIs, while Jenna Whitehead (Kimberly, WI) had three hits and a pair of RBIs. Archie and Haen both had a pair of hits.

Cherise Waltz (South Byron, WI) picked up the complete-game victory, as she struck out five in the contest. She gave up just four hits.
