(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University had no problems with Maranatha Baptist on Friday afternoon at Herr-Baker Field, as they won a pair of games by virtue of the ten-run rule. The Sabres won game one 12-1 and then took the nightcap 18-5.

Marian out-hit the Crusaders 14-4 in game one and broke the game open in the second inning with six runs. The Sabres recorded four hits and took advantage of two Crusader errors in the second. They had the opportunity for more, but left the bases loaded. Marian scored in five of the six innings they hit.

Matt Schroeder (Howards Grove, WI) picked up the victory, giving up just three hits and one unearned run in his five innings. He struck out four.

Tim Holtz (Oshkosh, WI) and Chad Langley (Racine, WI) both had three hits to lead the offense. Holtz drove in a pair of runs. Ryan Hiller (Marshfield, WI), Jace Unrein (Racine, WI), and Josh Klismith (Stevens Point, WI) all had a pair of hits. Hiller and Klismith each drove in three runs. Hiller homered in the fifth inning.

In game two, Marian fell behind 3-1 in the second, but quickly erased the deficit with a ten-run third inning. The Sabres recorded five hits in the inning, with Holtz delivering the big blow as he crushed a deep, three-run home run. The Sabres also had a big sixth inning as they recorded six runs.

Jake Miller (Marshall, WI) picked up his first career victory, as he scattered eight hits in his complete-game. He struck out a pair of hitters.

Hiller and Holtz paced the Sabre offense. Hiller was 3-for-5 with five RBIs, while Holtz was 2-for-2 with four runs and four RBIs. Phil Seis (Antigo, WI) also had three hits, while Klismith and Will Martin (Villa Park, IL) each had a pair of RBIs.
