(Fond du Lac, WI) - For the second day in-a-row, the Sabres played NAC leader, Benedictine University tough, but once again, fell short. The Sabres took a 2-0 lead into the top of the sixth on Saturday morning at Smith Fields, but gave up three in the inning and fell 3-2.

The Sabres scored both of their runs in the bottom of the fourth as Ashley Engler (Waterford, WI) drove in Maria Archie (Madison, WI) with a RBI-double. Archie opened the frame with a double as well. Engler later came in to score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

The Sabres recorded the first out in the sixth inning, but then ran into trouble. The next two hitters singled and a wild pitch moved runners to second and third. A walk loaded the bases and then Sam Corban drove in a pair for Benedictine to tie the game. The third run later came in to score on an error by Marian.

Marian stranded a runner in the sixth and then went in order in the seventh to end the contest.

Brittany Adcox picked up the victory for the Eagles for the second day in-a-row. She pitched three innings in relief, giving up just one hit and striking out four. She is now 19-2 on the season.

Amy Malcore (Luxemburg, WI) was the only Sabre with a multiple hit game as she was 2-for-3.

Jamie Whitehead (Kimberly, WI) pitched well, but suffered the loss. She scattered six hits in her 5.1 innings of work. She struck out three.

Marian (16-19, 8-12 NAC) is back in action again at noon, as they will host Rockford College at Smith Fields.
