Emily Wiesman earns NAC First Team honors

(Waukesha, WI) - The Northern Athletics Conference has announced the All-NAC awards for the 2010 softball season and the Sabres had five players recognized. 

The awards, as selected by the softball coaches of the NAC, include a 15-member First Team, a 10-member Second Team, honorable mention selections, a 10-member All-Freshman team, a 13-member All-Sportsmanship team and the four major awards of Player, Pitcher, Freshman and Coach-of-the-Year. 

Marian's Emily Wiesman (Sheboygan, WI) was one of the the fifteen members to be named to the NAC First Team. Wiesman finished the regular season with a .362 batting average in her 38 games played. The senior shortstop led the team in hits (51), triples (3), total bases (73), and stolen bases (6). She was also tied for second on the team in runs scored (27) and home runs (3). She is currently the school's all-time leader in run scored (140). Wiesman was a NAC Second Team selection in 2008 and 2009.

Maria Archie (Madison, WI) and Ashley Engler (Waterford, WI), both seniors, were named to the NAC Second Team. Archie, a catcher/designated player, hit .355 this season. She finished second on the team in RBI's (25), home runs (3), and runs scored (27). She is currently the school's career leader in home runs with 19. Archie was a NAC First Team selection in 2007 and 2008, while being named to the NAC Second Team in 2009.

Engler finished up a successful, three-year career with Marian this season as she was second on the team in batting average (.373). She led the team with 31 RBI's from the second base position. She tied for the team-lead in home runs (4) and doubles (12). In 2008, Engler was a NAC First Team selection, while being named to the NAC Second Team in 2009.

Emilie Jansen (Kaukauna, WI) was named to the NAC All-Freshman Team after hitting .280 this season. She started in all 39 games this season playing primarily third base. She tied for the team-lead in home runs with four. 

Senior Kristin Rose (Brownsville, WI) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Jade Koeune
Women's Soccer

Freshman Jade Koeune (Winneconne, WI) had a solid opening week for the women's soccer team. Koeune sat out last season with a knee injury, but tied for the team-lead in scoring in week one. She scored five points (1G/3A) for the Sabres, who beat Beloit College, but fell to UW-Oshkosh. 


Michielah Navis
Women's Volleyball

Sophomore Michielah Navis (Waupun, WI) helped the Sabres open the season with a 2-2 record at the St. Norbert College Tournament. Navis led the team with 104 assists this weekend. She was second on the team in digs (37) and service aces (6).
