(Milwaukee, WI) - Marian University suffered their first loss of the 2010 Northern Athletics Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon as they fell 6-4 to #2-seed, Aurora University. The Sabres held a three-run lead in the fifth, but couldn't hang on. They will now play Concordia University-Wisconsin tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM in an elimination game.

The Spartans grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as catcher Tristan Wilcox homered.

Marian answered that in a big way in the fourth inning, as they scored all four of their runs in the frame. Emilie Jansen (Kaukauna, WI) led the inning off with a single. A sacrifice bunt moved her to second base. After a strikeout, Emily Wiesman (Sheboygan, WI) walked. Amy Malcore (Luxemburg, WI) continued her hot streak at the plate with a two-RBI double. Maria Archie (Madison, WI) then made it 4-1 with a deep home run to left center. It is the second time Archie has homered in the tournament. With the home run, Archie became the school's all-time RBI-leader. She already holds the home run record.

Aurora evened the game in the fifth as they scored three times. They only had one hit in the frame, but took advantage of three Sabre walks.

Marian had a chance in the sixth as they had runners on first and second with only one out, but couldn't convert. The Spartans made them pay in the bottom of the frame, as they plated the final two runs of the game.

Marian out-hit the Spartans 8-7 in the contest. Malcore led the offense with two hits and a pair of RBI. Archie also added a pair of RBI.
