(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University is pleased to announce Bill Peters as the new women's golf head coach. Peters, also in his first season as the head women's basketball coach, will begin his duties immediately.
Peters has quite a professional background in the golf business. He has been a member of the PGA (Professional Golfers Association of America) since February 2000. He has been teaching golf to players of all levels for the past fifteen years. During that time, he has also been a Head Golf Professional for eight years at The Golf Courses of Lawsonia in Green Lake, Wisconsin and a Head Golf Professional at Tuscumbia Country Club for five years. He was also the Head Women's Golf Coach at Ripon College in 2005-2006.
Peters is excited to bring his talents and experience to the Marian women's golf program. "I am excited to continue building the program and keeping it going in the right direction," stated Peters. "It will start with some success this season and gaining some consistency on the course. The season is very short and the goal this season will be to continually get better as the season progresses," finished Peters.
Marian University Director of Athletics, Doug Hammonds, believes Peters will be a great addition to the women's golf program. "Bill's experience and appreciation for the game of golf speaks for itself," noted Hammonds. "I look forward to watching Bill continue to develop and grow the program and I'm confident that he can help the program enjoy success in the near future," stated Hammonds.
The Sabres open their season with a home meet at Rolling Meadows Golf Course on September 10.
