Saint Mary's shuts out Marian in the opener

(Winona, MN) - Saint Mary's University shut out Marian University 3-0 in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday evening. The Cardinals scored once in the first period and added two insurance goals in the second period to pick up the non-conference victory.
The Cardinals got on the board early in this one as Steve Boussie scored in the eighth minute. The game stayed that way until halftime.
In the second period, the Cardinals scored in the 57th and 65th minutes to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Cardinals out-shot Marian 13-6 in the contest
Marian's Nathan Thiery (Hartford, WI) made his debut in goal and recorded seven saves.
Boussie finished with the goal and two assists to lead Saint Mary's.
Marian is back in action this weekend as they will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Tournament. They open up with Carthage College on Saturday at 4:30 PM. They will then take on Olivet College on Sunday at 4:30 PM.
