FOND DU LAC, Wis. - No. 4 Marian University ACHA hockey (13-4-1, 10-2-0 NCHL) dominated Northern Michigan as the Sabres opened the second half defeating the Wildcats 9-0 and 7-0 in a pair of NCHL games.
In an offensive filled game for the Sabres, Marian jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the second period and poured on five goals in the final period to take the opener. The Sabres had seven different goal scorers led by Paul Kinder who recorded a hat trick to go with two assists for a five-point night.
Kirill Proskurin had a four-point game in the win scoring a goal and adding three assists, while Tanner Duffney scored a goal with two assists for a three-point game. Dan Roe also had a three-point game with three assists. Colin Wilson had a goal and an assist to join Brandon Mills and Bryton Tomko as the trio of Sabres with two points in the win. Closing out the scoring was Michael Bostwick, Jake Weldon and Miles Giorgione who all scored a goal.
Justin Davidson did his job on the back end of the ice stopping all 19 shots he faced as the Sabres finished with a 72-19 advantage in shots.
The finale saw much of the same as Marian outshot NMU 59-14 and had five different goal scorers. The Sabres jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first period as they were able to cruise to the sweep. Mills and Tomko each had a pair of goals to lead the scoring. Proskurin netted a goal and two assists, while Roe and Kinder each had three assists.
Duffney and Sheamus Stoyle each scored a goal and recorded an assist to have multi-point games, while Bostwick closed out the scoring for Marian with an assist.
Davidson once again led the charge in net stopping all 12 shots he faced before Alex Kruger made his first appearance in net making a pair of saves.
Marian remains at home to host Robert Morris for a two-game series Feb. 3-4. The opener has a puck drop of 7:30 p.m., while the finale will be at 2:30 p.m. and streamed live.
