No. 6 Marian ACHA hockey pushes win streak to eight

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University ACHA hockey (15-4-1, 12-2-0 NCHL) earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming conference tournament sweeping Robert Morris with finals of 4-0 and 6-3, respectively.

In the opener, Fredrik Radbjer stood on his head for senior night with a 37-save shutout to lead the Sabres.  Marian would narrowly outshoot the Eagles by a 43-37 margin and had seven different skaters, four different goal scorers, record a point in the win.  The Sabres netted a goal in the first and second period before icing the game in the final period with a pair of goals.

Colin Wilson netted the game-winner in the first period, unassisted, and later assisted a goal in the third period for a two-point game.  Paul Kinder II and Tanner Duffney each assisted a pair of goals to close out the skaters with multiple points in the win.  Dan Roe netted the second goal in the game with Brandon Mills and Bryton Tomko netting the third period tallies.  Kirill Proskurin closed out the scorers for Marian after assisting the Tomko goal in the third period.

The Sabre offense started fast in the finale of the series as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the second period as they cruised to a sweep.  The Marian offense had another strong game as they outshot the Eagles by a 41-29 margin with Justin Davidson making 26 saves to earn the win in net.

Eight different skaters recorded a point in the finale win led by Jake Weldon who was the lone Sabre to record multiple goals, one short-handed, to go with an assist for a three-point game.   Brandon Mills also had a three-point game in the win after scoring a goal with a pair of assists, while Kinder closed out a five-point weekend with three assists.  Mills also netted the eventual game-winning goal.

Michael Bostwick scored the opening goal of the game with Sheamus Stoyle and Proskurin being the other goal scorers for the Sabres.  Wilson and Duffney each recorded an assist for the Sabres to close out the Sabre skaters with at least a point.

Marian closes out the regular season traveling to Saint Mary's (Minn.) Feb. 10-11.  The opener of the series will have the puck drop at 1 p.m. with the finale at 12:15 p.m.
