Marian Baseball Picked Seventh in Preseason Coaches' Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Northern Athletics Conference has released its 2013 Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll and Marian University was picked to finish seventh out of 12 teams, the league office announced this week.

Defending champion, Aurora, was picked as the favorite after garnering 7-of-12 first-place votes and a 138 poll points overall. Concordia Chicago accumulated the second-most points with 131, including two first-place votes. Benedictine and Rockford were third and fourth with 119 and 103 points, respectively, while splitting the remaining three first-place votes.

Edgewood was fifth with 94 points, followed by Dominican (74), Marian (71) and Concordia Wisconsin (64). Wisconsin Lutheran (61), Lakeland (40), MSOE (29) and Maranatha (12) round out the 12-team poll.

The league's six-team, double-elimination tournament will take place May 10-12, at Concordia Wisconsin's Kapco Park in Mequon, which finished construction just prior to last season. The tournament champion receives the NAC's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship tournament.
