FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – There have already been numerous scheduling postponements and cancellations at the outset of this spring season due to the lingering snow and two more dates have been effected as Marian University’s baseball and softball programs have been forced to push back its originally scheduled home openers for Saturday, March 30.
Marian baseball was scheduled to host Wisconsin Lutheran College in a noon Saturday doubleheader, but the poor conditions at Herr-Baker Field have prevented that from taking place. It’s a likewise scenario at Smith Fields, home of the Marian softball team, where they were set to host a doubleheader against Maranatha Baptist Bible College at noon on Saturday.
Both programs have rescheduled these dates with baseball hosting WLC April 9, at 1 p.m. and softball hosting MBBC April 8, at 3 p.m.
On the bright side, one Marian spring sport will compete at home this weekend as the men's tennis team is scheduled to host UW-Oshkosh indoors at the Center Court Tennis Club in Fond du Lac, this Friday, March 29, at 5 p.m.
The potential for additional postponements or cancellations still remains a possibility for the coming week or two, so be sure to visit www.SabreAthletics.com for all scheduling changes related to Marian’s 15 varsity sponsored athletic programs.
