Men's Basketball Picked Tied for Second in Coaches' Poll
WAUKESHA, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's basketball team was tabbed to finish tied for second in the North Division as selected by the coaches in the 2012-13 Northern Athletics Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced.
Marian Head Coach Mark Boyle's squad finished fourth in the division and eighth overall in 2011-12 with a 10-16 overall record, 7-9 in the NAC, and qualified for the NAC tournament as the #8 seed. Marian did not graduate a single player and look to gain from a talented freshmen class and a core group of sophomores and juniors with an added year of experience.
Lakeland and Aurora were picked to win their respective divisions, according to the poll. Lakeland finished with 11 first-place votes and 71 overall points, 23 points ahead of Edgewood and Marian. Edgewood garnered the other first-place vote. Concordia Wisconsin came in fourth (46), followed by MSOE (27) and Maranatha (12).
In the South, Aurora claimed 10 of the league's 12 first-place votes and 68 points overall, eight points ahead of second place Benedictine, which garnered the other two first-place votes. Rockford was picked third (41), followed by Concordia Chicago (37), Dominican (30) and Wisconsin Lutheran (16).
