FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – To welcome back to campus the Marian student body and celebrate the start of second semester, the Marian University men's basketball team is inviting everyone out to its showdown against MSOE this Wednesday, Jan. 23. Domino's is sponsoring a Welcome Back night, providing contests, prizes and 40 percent off your next Domino's order to the first 100 students in attendance. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
The first 100 students will receive a 40 percent off coupon for their next Domino's purchase and automatically be entered into a drawing to determine four teams of two that will compete in a halftime pizza eating contest.
The Sabres (10-8, 6-4 NAC), winners in seven of the last nine games, are coming off a big win over Aurora last Saturday after handing the Spartans their first conference loss of the season after starting 8-0.
Marian picked up its first NAC win over MSOE on the road back on Dec. 5, and will eye a regular season sweep of the Raiders with a chance to climb up the NAC North Division standings in the process.
With just six league contests remaining, every game is important as teams jockey for position at a chance to be one of the top-four teams that qualify for the post-season tournament.
The Sabres are currently fourth in the NAC North behind conference-leading Lakeland at 9-1. MSOE (13-5, 7-2 NAC) is second, followed by Concordia Wisconsin in third at 7-3. Edgewood (3-6) and Maranatha (0-9) are currently fifth and sixth, respectively, to round out the division standings. The top-four teams from each division advance to the conference tournament.
