Men's Soccer Tabbed Seventh in NAC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's soccer team was picked to finish seventh in the Northern Athletics Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released by the conference office Tuesday, August 28. Dominican, which is six-time defending conference champions, was the unanimous choice to make it seven straight after garnering all 12 first-place votes.

The Sabres return eight letterwinners from the 2011 squad, which finished eighth in the NAC standings with a 5-12-1 overall record, 4-7 in the NAC.

Dominican's unanimous selection earned them 144 voting points. Concordia Wisconsin was the runner-up preseason favorite, earning 125 points. MSOE (118), Aurora (112), Edgewood (95) and Benedictine (76) round out the top-six teams and preseason favorites to qualify for the NAC tournament. 

Marian (68), Lakeland (59), Wisconsin Lutheran (52), Concordia Chicago (45), Maranatha (30) and Rockford (12) finish out the bottom half of the year in this year's poll.

The league's six-team conference tournament will take place Oct. 28-Nov. 3, with the tournament champion receiving the NAC's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA III Championship Tournament.
