Raiders Shut Out Visiting Sabres, 4-0

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Sabrethletics.com) – The Marian University men's soccer team ran into a stifling MSOE defense as it fell, 4-0, in Northern Athletics Conference action at Time Warner Stadium this evening, Sept. 26th.

Sabre keeper, Bryce Woldt kept busy throughout the match as he contested 17 shots while eight were on goal. Marian was only able to put up seven shots, while two were on goal.

The Sabres fell to 0-5-4 overall, 0-2-2 in the NAC, while MSOE improved to 7-3-0 (3-1-0 NAC).

Raider Jordan Werner proved too much for the Sabres as he posted a hat trick in the match. Werner put the Raiders ahead in the 24th minute, on an assist by Drew Porter, and netted another goal only seven minutes later to put the Raiders up 2-0 at the half.

Nate Peltonen led the Sabres with two shots, but was unable to record a shot on goal. Rob Ogden and David Reinke accounted for the only two shots on goal.

In the second half, Werner scored his third goal in the 73rd minute of the game, while Tobias Moller put the game out of reach for the Sabres with a 78th minute score to make it 4-0.

Marian continues to seek its first win on the year and will host 13th-ranked Dominican University this Saturday, September 29th at Smith Fields. Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m. following the women's match at noon.
