FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- The Marian men's tennis team is coming off their best performance of the year and won their first two matches of the year against Concordia Chicago.
Ryd was able to take the first set 6-4 and respond with a 6-0 finishing set.
Maetzold found himself behind early in his matchup against Niko Vercelletto for the Cougars, but was able to climb his way back in it. After falling in the first set 6-3, Maetzold allowed one point over the next two sets to take the match.
The Sabres also showed an improvement in doubles play as they earned at least three points in each of their matches.
"We are starting to play better tennis as the season is going forward," Head coach Marcus Wiegert said. "The guys have been working hard and have kept a great attitude overall."
The Sabres have three home matchups on the week, starting with Concordia Wisconsin and Lakeland on Saturday, April 18 and capped off with a non-conference matchup against Ripon on Sunday, April 19.
