Marian men's volleyball easily handles MBU at Sadoff

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University men's volleyball (9-12, 2-6 NACC) held Maranatha Baptist to a -.163 hitting percentage as the Sabres defeated the Sabercats with set scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-11.

The Sabre offense had a strong opening set where they hit .478 off of 13 kills to only two errors on 23 attempts.  From there, however, the Sabre defense was tough as they held Maranatha Baptist to a -.188 hitting percentage in the second set and a -.222 hitting percentage in the third set.  The Sabercats would only manage 11 kills on the night and Marian forced 11 MBU errors in the third set.

Marian closed out the match with 31 kills on 76 attacks with only 12 errors for a .250 hitting percentage, only the fifth time this season the Sabres have hit .250 or better in a match.  From the service line, the Sabres also had seven service aces, the most for a three-set match this season, led by senior Aaron Wendels who had three.

Wendels also paced the offense hitting .400 with a match-high 11 kills.  Junior Thomas Jones added six kills off of a .286 hitting percentage to go with seven digs.  Defensively, junior Cullen Liberski had a team-high nine digs.

Junior Joey Dittman closed out the match with 26 assists, two service aces, two total blocks and a service ace.

Marian will next host nationally-ranked Kean for a 4 p.m. first serve Wednesday, March 14 from Sadoff Gym.
