Marian Softball Picked Fourth in Preseason Coaches' Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University softball team was picked fourth in the 2013 Northern Athletics Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced today, Jan. 30.

Aurora was picked as this year's favorite after collecting 161 poll points, including 6-of-13 first-pace votes. Three-time defending champion Benedictine received the remaining seven first-place votes, but had four fewer poll points to finish second in the poll.

Concordia Wisconsin was picked third with 143 points, while Marian was fourth at 120 points. Dominican (116) was picked fifth followed by Lakeland (102), Concordia Chicago (97) and Alverno (72).

Rounding out the 13-team poll was Edgewood (66), Wisconsin Lutheran (52), Rockford (44), MSOE (33) and Maranatha (20).

The league's six-team, double-elimination tournament will take place May 2-4 at Alverno Field in Milwaukee. The tournament champion will receive the NAC's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship tournament.
