FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – Fresh off her senior season, Emilie Jansen has been selected to play for Team USA thanks to the American International Sports Teams organization. During her 10 day stint overseas, Jansen and Team USA compete against teams from Russia, Austria and the Czech Republic. After a successful career at Marian, this trip puts the icing on the cake.
"I am ecstatic that I was given this opportunity to go and play. I love traveling and this is my first time taking a trip to Europe. I feel that this trip is like the cherry on top of all of my hard work since I started playing in third grade. I feel very blessed that I was given this opportunity and couldn't be more excited to represent the United States."
Jansen is joined by fellow NACC opponents, Jamie Schuh and Mariah Giessman, from Concordia Wisconsin. Along with the NACC representatives, Team USA comprises of athletes from Michigan, New York, California, Texas, Virginia and Connecticut.
Although Team USA is there to compete, there will also be time for site seeing. Throughout the trip, the group will travel to Dachau and the Olympic stadium, bike tour through Munich, and some site seeing in Prague where they will be competing.
"I'm very excited to visit the Olympic stadium and the castles. I have some German in me, so I'm excited to be able to travel there!"
Jansen will be blogging about her experiences as she travels Europe. Fans can follow her blog at: http://jjansen06.wordpress.com/
