MILWAUKEE - Marian University women's basketball (3-16, 2-12 NACC) got out to a slow start and couldn't recover falling on the road at MSOE 65-48.
After an early 4-4 tie the Raiders would take the first significant lead of the game off of a 7-0 run. The MSOE defense was stingy as the Sabre offense struggled early and the Raiders took a 13-4 lead into the second quarter.
The Marian offense was still unable to find a rhythm as the Raiders once again used a 7-0 run to extend on their lead, ultimately heading into halftime up 39-23.
The Sabres were able to use halftime to their advantage as they were able to keep pace with the Raiders in the second half. Marian was able to outscore MSOE 11-10 in the final quarter, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome setting the final at 65-48.
Three of the Sabre starters scored double-figures led by sophomore Brandi Bender who netted a team-high 15 points.
Marian will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday, Feb. 1 for a 7 p.m. tip.
