LISLE, Ill. - Marian University women's basketball (2-3, 0-1 NACC) dropped their conference opener 85-44 at Benedictine.
The Eagle offense was balanced all game long with only two players reaching double figures. Benedictine would close out the game shooting 32-80 (.400) including 9-27 (.333) from beyond the arc. Benedictine was able to pull away in the second half where they scored 47 points.
The best period for the Sabres came in the third quarter where the Sabres scored 14 points off of 6-17 (.353) shooting. The Sabres would also outrebound the Eagles 12-11 in the quarter with four of the MU boards coming on the offensive end.
Junior Rachel Serchen continued her hot play of late with 18 points and 14 rebounds for her first double-double at Marian. Senior Brandi Bender once again had another big game offensively chipping in 18 points.
Marian returns home when they host Alverno Saturday, Dec. 2 for a 2 p.m. start from Sadoff Gym.
