WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's golf team finished in ninth place at the Benedictine University Invitational after round two, which concluding this afternoon, Sept. 16, from St. Andrews Golf and Country Club.
The Sabres were led by Angela Krueger, who shot a 179 with a first round 91, followed by a second round 88. Marian finished three points behind Aurora, which they finished seven shots ahead of after day one. The Spartans fired a team score of 374, which was 10 strokes ahead of the Sabres and jumped them to eighth in the standings.
Krueger paced Marian with a 19th place finish. Kristin Skubic shot a final round 97, one stroke better than her first round score, to finish tied for 36th overall and second on the Sabres. Katilyn Zorn (103-98-201) placed tied for 43rd followed by Sydney Volkman and Jordan Olson to round out the Marian top-five.
Marian will have one final tune-up prior to the start of the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference Championship, a three-round event that begins Sept. 29. Next weekend, the Sabres will be in Delavan, Wis. to take part in the UW-Whitewater Invitational, Sept. 21-22, at Delbrook G.C.
