Women's Golf in Fifth After Two Rounds at Championship
JORDAN, Minn. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's golf team is sitting in fifth place through two rounds at the Northern Athletics Conference Championship at The Ridges at Sand Creek. The Sabres were in fourth after a day 1 score of 410 and are now two shots back of fourth place following a second round 404. Concordia Wisconsin leads everyone by 83 strokes with a 704.
Marian's Angela Krueger fired back-to-back scores in the 90s by opening up the tournament with a 93 followed by a 95 for a two-round score of 188, good for eighth place individually. She trails Alex Hackel (Wis. Lutheran) and Emily Stephenson (Concordia Wis.) by two strokes for sixth place and is six strokes out of fourth.
Kaitlyn Zorn is currently in 23rd place after compiling a two-round score of 208, following by Kristin Skubic, who ranks 25th with 211. Jordan Olson is tied for 26th place with a score of 212 and Sydney Volkman's back-to-back 109s has her sitting in 32nd.
The Sabres have improved on their scores from the first two rounds of last year's championship. Momentum is on their side towards improving on last year's sixth place team finish. The third round of the championship is slated for a 10 a.m. start Monday, Oct. 1.
