Sesing-Gomoll Tabbed NCHA Offensive Player of the Week

SAINT PAUL ( forward Megan Sesing-Gomoll (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) had a pair of impressive performances last weekend that led to being selected as the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 13, the league office announced today. This is the first such honor for Sesing-Gomoll, who totaled five points in the first-ever series sweep for Marian women's hockey. 

The Fond du Lac native enjoyed a pair of breakout performances for the Sabres, accounting for four goals and an assist in two 5-1 victories over Finlandia. Sesing-Gomoll scored twice in each contest and accomplished the rare feat of scoring two short-handed goals in the series finale. 

In the opener, she put home the game-winning score in the second period before adding an insurance tally late in the third. On Saturday, leading 2-1, but with the game still in doubt, she made it 3-1 at the 11:05 mark in the third period with her first short-handed goal. Then 51 seconds later she added a second short-handed score, an unassisted tally, on the same penalty kill to put the game out of reach.

Sesing-Gomoll currently ranks fifth in the league with five goals on the season. The Sabres will resume play this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17-18, taking on St. Norbert College in a home-and-home series. Marian will have its home opener this Saturday at 4 p.m. before heading to De Pere on Sunday in a 4 p.m. start.
