FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (9-13-1, 6-10-0 NCHA) honored their senior class but fell to No. 5 Lake Forest 5-0 to close out the home portion of their schedule.
Similarly to the opener, the Sabres came out strong outshooting the Foresters 12-7 in the opening period with an especially strong push at the end of the period. Neither team would be able to light the lamp, however, and for the second consecutive day entered the first intermission scoreless.
The Foresters then scored three goals in a span of 4:12 in the second period, two on the power play, to pull ahead 3-0. LFC then took finished off the game with a pair of goals in the final period to set the final at 5-0.
Senior Maddy Dixon (2-3-0) took the loss in her final home game making 28 saves. Fellow senior Emily Everson led the offense with a game-high eight shots on goal. Also playing their final game at Blue Line was Sarah Bier, Jessie Meluch, Paige Picard and Amanda Siiro.
Marian closes out the season with a road series at St. Norbert Feb. 17-18 needing just two points to clinch a spot in the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs.
