FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (0-4-1, 0-2-1 NCHA) earned their first conference point of the season in a 2-2 tie with Concordia Wisconsin.
The two squads traded goals in the first and second period before neither offense found the back of the net in the third period and overtime leading to the tie. The Falcons were able to score first at the 7:46 mark of the first period on the power play before the Sabres knotted things up at the 14:26 mark.
Senior Hailey Miller would light the lamp for the first time this season with an assist from fellow senior Alexis Peterson who was playing in her first game of the season. The Falcons retook the lead on an unassisted goal at the 5:03 mark but Marian rallied once again. Freshman Sally Moris came through on the power play at the 12:45 mark of the second with assists to senior Sheila Blower and Miller.
Each team fired a combined nine shots on goal in the third period and overtime but nothing got through. The Falcons outshot Marian by a 37-23 margin for the game with senior Lindsey Strainis (0-4-1) making 35 saves in the game, 16 of which came in the second period. Junior Morgan Bolin paced the offense with five shots, while senior Jill Schneider went 16-11 in the faceoff circle.
Marian and CUW conclude the series tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. from Blue Line.
