Sabres Shutout Warriors in NAC Road Opener

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (SabreAthetics.com) – Make it two in a row for the Marian University women's soccer team as it shutout Northern Athletics Conference foe, Wisconsin Lutheran College, 1-0, on the road this evening, Sept. 13.

Brittany Syms scored her first goal of the season in the 22nd minute of the match and it held as the decisive tally en route to a Marian victory, their second straight against NAC competition.

The Sabres improve to 2-3 overall, 2-1 in NAC play, while the Warriors fall to 1-4-1 (0-3 NAC).

Marian led in shots for the first time this season with an 11-9 advantage , including 7-4 in the first half.

Syms tallied her fifth career goal in the 22nd minute to put the Sabres on top before halftime. The defense did the rest as goalkeeper Caitlyn Rosenberger made four saves for her second career shutout and first of the season.

Marian will be back in action this Sunday, Sept. 16, to take on non-conference opponent, Elmhurst College, at Smith Fields in Fond du Lac. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
