FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's soccer team recorded its highest output of the season with a 10-0 shutout over visiting Rockford College in Northern Athletics Conference play at Smith Fields this afternoon, Oct. 6.
Nine different Sabres reached the scoring column and one Rockford own goal accounted for the 10 scores. The Sabres scored five in each period and didn't surrender a single shots to the Regents, out-shooting their counterparts, 47-0.
Marian improved to 6-5 overall, 6-2 in the NAC with the win, while Rockford dropped to 0-10 (0-8 NAC) with the loss.
Laura Maly started the scoring with a tally in the 10th minute. It was her fourth goal of the season on an assist from Nicole Rublee. Following an own goal by Rockford in the 12th minute, Rublee added her second assist of the day in the 18th minute, feeding Jade Koeune for her fourth goal of the year and giving Marian a 3-0 advantage.
Alyson Fisher and Kylie McArthur would get in on the action before halftime to make it 5-0. Out of the break, Jordan Dykstra would take over in goal for Marian starter Caitlyn Rosenberger. Neither keeper was challenged throughout the match.
Marian put 22 of their 47 shots on goal and led in corner kicks, 17-0.
The Sabres will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, taking on UW-Stevens Point in a 2 p.m. non-conference tilt at Smith Fields.
