FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's tennis (10-10, 6-3 NACC) trailed 4-1 before rallying to defeat Wisconsin Lutheran 5-4 to advance to their third-straight NACC semifinals appearance.

After doubles action, the Warriors held an early 2-1 lead with Meg Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe teaming up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-1 victory.  Wisconsin Lutheran would then win No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles putting the Sabres in a 4-1 hole.

With their backs against the wall, the Sabres would rally taking the final four singles match-ups to earn the win.  Emma Lewandowski's win at No. 3 proved to be a clincher after a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 victory.  Hartzell secured a sweep on the day with a 6-4, 6-2 No. 1 singles win and Kyrsten Bruce took No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1.  Kristin Houle closed out the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.

"This was a great team win," commented head women's tennis coach Marcus Wiegert after the match.  "It was the best mental game we have played in over a year and I'm proud of how we persevered after trailing.  Everyone played for the next point and we just battled for everything.  This momentum should carry us into the NACC semifinals on Sunday."

Marian awaits the results of the other first round match-up between Lakeland and MSOE to determine if the Sabres will play Concordia Wisconsin or Edgewood in the semifinals.  The semifinals will be held Sunday, May 6 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis.
