MEQUON, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's volleyball team dominated the match, winning all three sets, 25-19, 25-15 and 28-26, against Concordia University Wisconsin this evening, Sept. 13. The Sabres improve to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
In the first set, the Sabres and Falcons remained tied 18-18, then Marian turned it on, taking the set 25-19. Errors hurt the Falcons as the committed 13 in the first set alone.
In the second set, Marian scored the first point and never looked back. After a kill from Kathryn Braunling making the score 14-12, the Sabres would score the next seven, straight points forcing the Falcons to take a timeout. Little would amount to the timeout as Sabres would take route winning the set 25-15.
Marian would be challenged in the third set as it found itself trailing through most of the set. The Sabres would make a come back, however, after once trailing 18-13. They would tie the score at 26-26 before going on to win in extra points, 28-26.
Marian hit .154 as a team while the Falcons hit just .014 and committed 29 errors to just 31 kills.
The Sabres now take a break until September 19th when they will host Lawrence University at 7 pm.
