MILWAUKEE, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – In less than 24 hours, the Marian University volleyball team disregarded last night's sweep by Rockford College, and rebounded with a sweep of their own, winning 25-16, 25-14, and 25-15 against the Raiders this afternoon, Oct. 20. More importantly, Marian clinched a NAC tournament bid with this afternoon's sweep.
The Sabres replicated results from their first match and meeting of the season, sweeping the Raiders, 3-0. The difference today, however, the Sabres won each set by nine points or more, dominating the match.
Marian improves to 14-13 overall, 6-5 in the NAC with the win, while MSOE falls to 5-15 (3-7 NAC) with the loss.
Marian hit .267 for the match, while their best was in the third set at .346. MSOE, however, hit a mere .011, with their best hit percentage in the first set at .028.
Sabre, Anna Smit led the Sabres and match with 10 kills on the afternoon – notching one more kill than the Raiders were able to combine for in all of their matches. Katie Reimer assisted the Sabres with a near double-double with 31 assists and seven digs on the match.
The Sabres finish their last NAC match Tuesday, Oct. 23, hosting Maranatha Baptist Bible College at 7 p.m.
