TUCSON, Ariz. - Marian University baseball (8-2, 0-0 NACC) split with Augsburg in the final games of their spring trip with a 2-0 victory followed by a 3-0 defeat.
The Sabres opened the doubleheader with a pitching duel against Augsburg as the two teams would only combine for two runs and nine hits. A double from sophomore Jonah Landowski opened the scoring for the game in the second as fellow sophomore Sean Meyer was able to come around to score. Junior Nick Bastien was then able to plate senior Jake Falish an inning later with a single.
The pair of runs proved to be more than enough for senior Jordan Bock who was dominant in his second start of the season. Bock would toss a complete game shutout only allowing a pair of Augsburg hits while striking out seven.
The offense saw six different Sabres record a hit with Landowski recording the only multi-hit game going 2-2 with a run scored.
The Marian offense then was only able to muster up five hits in the finale dropping their final spring trip game. The Auggies would plate two runs in the third and added an insurance run in the sixth to claim the win. Sophomore Noah Imrie (1-1) took the loss going 4.0 innings only allowing three hits and striking out five, while fellow sophomore Logan Bosquez tossed an inning of scoreless ball.
Marian returns to Wisconsin traveling to Ripon Wednesday, March 27 for a non-conference game.
