The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a power play goal but the Sabres quickly knotted the score 23-seconds later when Derek Thorogood received a centering pass and beat the glove of the Adrian goalie. Scott Smoot and Jacob Ryd assisted on the play.
Thorogood then gave the Sabres their first lead of the game with two-minutes remaining in the second period when he found an empty net off of a rebound from the right circle. Warren Carter and Hunter Stewart assisted the goal that came on the power play.
The Sabres were able to outshoot the Bulldogs 14-4 in the second period, but Adrian bounced back with goals at the 3:41 and 13:15 mark of the third period to retake the lead. The Sabres spent the final 2:08 with an extra attacker after pulling the goalie and created several opportunities in front of the net but were unable to light the lamp leading to the 3-2 final.
The Sabres hit the road for a pair of non-conference games next weekend traveling to UW-Stevens Point Friday, Nov. 20 and UW-Superior Saturday, Nov. 21 with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. for both games.
