WHITTIER, Calif. - Marian University men's lacrosse (4-2, 1-1 MLC) dominated Johnson & Wales 28-1 to close out their spring trip.
Marian opened the game scoring 12 goals in the opening quarter with sophomore Connor Houlihan scoring four of the goals. The offense continued to dominate outscoring the Wildcats 9-1 in the second quarter with eight different Sabres scoring a goal.
The Sabres pitched a shutout in the second half scoring three goals in the third quarter and four more in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Freshman John Lovesee had a pair of goals in the second half and fellow freshman Colt Robertson had three assists in the fourth quarter.
A total of 13 different Sabres had multi-point games with Houlihan scoring a game-high four goals and Robertson scoring two goals and five assists for a game-high seven points. Defensively, sophomore Tommy Gerlach forced six turnovers and scooped up 10 ground balls.
Freshman Johnny Estrada faced only three shots and made a pair of saves to earn the victory in goal. As a team, the Sabres went 16-for-17 on clear attempts and won 20 of the 31 faceoffs.
Marian is next scheduled to return home and take on Dubuque Sunday, March 24 for a 5 p.m. start in non-conference action.
