HANCOCK, Mich. - Marian University men's soccer (2-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC) earned their second-straight 1-0 victory defeating Finlandia on the road in non-conference action.
It was a chippy game as a total of 10 yellow cards were issued in the second half of action. The Sabres dominated the opening 45 minutes outshooting Finlandia 13-2. The Sabres wasted no time getting on the board when freshman Emanuel Acosta found the back of the net just 2:04 in for his second goal of the season. Fellow freshman Max Kauffman sent a cross into the box to Acosta to earn an assist.
The second half was much closer but Marian still outshot the Lions 7-4 to finish the game with a 20-6 advantage. Sophomore Brandon Mancini posted a game-high five shots in the victory.
In goal, sophomore Cory Koehler (1-1-0) started the first half stopping the only shot he faced to earn the win, while junior Kevin Cervantes played the second half and also stopped the only shot he faced.
Marian closes out the weekend traveling to Northland tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 8, for a 2:30 p.m. start.
