MILWAUKEE - Junior Kevin Cervantes of Marian University men's soccer has been named the NACC defensive player of the week, as voted on by the sports information directors of the league.
Cervantes (Berwyn, Ill.) went 2-0-0 without allowing a goal over the course of 180:00 of action in goal as the Sabres won three-consecutive road games. He opened his week with a six-save shutout to lead Marian to a 1-0 victory over Northland. Cervantes then earned the start against Finlandia as part of a combined shutout making one save in the first half of action. The junior keeper closed out the week with two more saves in the first half against Northland to close out his perfect week.

Marian hosts UW-Whitewater in their home opener at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 from the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.
