FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's soccer (3-2-0, 0-0-0 NACC) rallied late but fell to UW-Whitewater by a 3-2 final from a rainy Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.

Both teams battled back-and-forth for much of the first half.  Marian was able to tally the first goal of the game when a hand ball in the box from UWW gave Marian a penalty shot.  Sophomore Brandon Mancini was able to sneak the shot in the left post for his fourth goal of the year and give Marian a 1-0 lead at the 38:06 mark.  This lead didn't last long, however, as the Warhawks tied the game just 31 seconds later.

Marian held the advantage in shots through the first half at 8-5, but the opening part of the second half was dominated by UW-Whitewater.  The Warhawks would take their first lead of the game at the 69:39 mark, and padded their lead out to 3-1 just 2:15 later.

The Sabres battled back, however, a deep pass allowed sophomore Tallon Schuster to score his first goal of the season in the 79th minute to cut the deficit to one.  The remaining 10 minutes was dominated by the Sabres, and Marian was able to create several chances but couldn't find the equalizer.

Mancini led the offense with four shots with six different Sabres recording at least one shot.  Junior Kevin Cervantes (2-1-0) suffered his first loss of the season making eight saves in goal.  Seven of his saves would come in the second half.

Marian takes on Albion in non-conference action Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. from the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.
