MILWAUKEE - Marian University softball (11-9, 3-3 NACC) fell to MSOE in a NACC doubleheader with final scores of 6-1 and 4-3.
The Raiders jumped all over the Sabres in the opener of the series scoring six runs in the first three innings with three of the runs coming in the first inning. The Marian offense would also sputter in the defeat only managing two hits. A double from sophomore Peyton Loesch drove in junior Taylor Lauscher in the sixth to produce the only Marian run of the game.
The second game started much better for the Sabres but consistent scoring from MSOE led to a sweep. The Sabres scored three runs in the first frame with Lauscher bringing in junior Ally fox to open the scoring. Loesch was then able to drive in senior Lindsey Strainis with a sacrifice fly before sophomore Katy Croeker brought in Lauscher with a double.
This would be all Marian would manage, however, and MSOE would score once in the first three innings and scored the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth.
Fox proved to have the only multi-hit game going 2-for-4 with a run scored. In the circle, Loesch was able to provide 2.0 innings of scoreless relief.
Marian closes out the weekend hosting Rockford tomorrow, Sunday, April 7, for a noon doubleheader.
