RIPON, Wis. - Marian University track and field saw four records rewritten as the Sabres continued their season at Ripon College.
The women had a strong showing and had three of the new records, while also finishing the meet in eighth place with 10 points.
Miera Smith had a strong showing setting a record in the triple jump where she finished in fifth place with a leap of 10.18-meters in the finals. Smith also had a 10th place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.79.
Sydney Cihak, Natasha Reetz and Mia McDonald also competed in the 60-meter dash finishing right next to each other. Cihak clocked in at 9.51 seconds for 14th, Reetz at 9.54 seconds for 15th and McDonald 9.65 seconds for 16th place.
Brittney Roser set a pair of new records with one being in the weight throw where she and Emily Grunwald were the first Sabres in program history to compete in the event. Roser recorded a distance of 12.32-meters in the preliminary round and finished at 11.89-meters in the finals for an eighth-place finish. She also set a record in the shot put at 11.27-meters, good for a fourth-place finish.
On the men's side, Jacob Leiden set a school record in the 800-meter dash when he finished in 17th place clocking in with a time of 2:13.01.
Marian will next travel to UW-Oshkosh for the Titan Challenge Saturday, Feb. 17.
