WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. - Marian University women's basketball (1-2, 0-0 NACC) fell to Fontbonne by a 63-39 to final to close out a non-conference road trip to Missouri.
The second quarter was once again the bright spot for the Sabres as they fell to the Griffons in non-conference action. The Sabres would manage 16 points in the second stanza shooting 6-14 (.429) from the field. Six different Sabres scored in the quarter led by sophomore Carley Wilson and senior Brandi Bender who each had four points apiece.
Marian also had a strong showing in the fourth quarter where they were only outscored 11-8 and held Fontbonne to 3-11 (.273) shooting from the field. The Sabre defense was also able to force six turnovers in the fourth quarter and grabbed five offensive rebounds.
The Sabre bench had one of their best games so far this season tallying 20 points for MU.
At the sound of the final horn, 10 different Sabres had tallied points led by Bender who had eight. Junior Christina Jagiello and freshman Jenna Moehn each chipped in seven points, while Wilson finished the game with nine rebounds, two assists and four points.
Marian returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 21 when they return to Sadoff Gym for a 5:30 p.m. tip against Mount Mary.
