AURORA, Ill. (SabreAthletics.com) - The Marian University cross country team traveled to Illinois today for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships hosted by Aurora University.
Josh Heup represented the Marian men as he has all year. After recording a personal best time in his last race at the AAE Invitational in Oshkosh, Heup responded with a respectable time of 32:22.0 to finish ahead of 12 runners.
Alexis Bodway was back in action for Marian in the women's race as she finished with a time of 32:33.4, ahead of seven runners.
Wisconsin Lutheran's Chase Robles took first with a time of 22:25.8, finishing over 30 seconds ahead of second place Matt Meyers from Aurora in the men's race.
Emily Paull of Aurora was able to take first in the women's race with a time of 21:58.2, outrunning Edgewood's Natasha Zanoya just shy of 30 seconds
MSOE came away with the team win for the men, as their top five runners each finished in the top ten. Ben Miller was the team's top runner, finishing third with a time of 25:58.4.
Aurora put up simillar numbers with its top-five runners all finishing ninth or better to grab the team win.
The races conclude the season for the Sabres in a successful first year for head coach Dan Allen. Allen will pick things up in the winter with the start of indoor track season.
